Spanning tree set up continued

I have two HP switches (#7 2900, #8 2910al) connected to each other via gigabit. Both switches also connect to a Cisco 2811 at 100 megabit. All three devices have STP enabled with their default options. I would like the link from the 2811 to #8 be blocked and the link from 7 to 8 active.

I don't want to play with the root bridge values unless absolutely necessary. From the HP manual it sounds like I should be able to set the path-code and / or priority on the #8's port that connects to the router. I'm not sure exactly what values I need; please assist.

To resolve this issue I did simply increase the port cost on switch 8 port 1 which is connected to the router.
spanning-tree ethernet 1 path-cost 250000

It depends on which switch is the root. If the 2910 is the root, you'll have change that. If the 2900 is the root, there shouldn't be any further tuning required.

If you could provide the Bridge ID's of the three devices and the port costs for the interconnected ports, we can determine where you are and what needs to be done.

donjohnston, thanks.
I want the router to be the root of the spanning tree - it is likely that I'll need to set up other switches in the same topology. I think I have that done correctly. I specifically need VLANs 1 and 100 if it helps. Hopefully I've included everything necessary.
