Delete Browsing History

I am trying to delete browsing history in internet explorer 8 and it seems to go on forever.  I have let it run for 4 hours and now and it has not finished.  The only way I was able to get it to stop was to restart the computer.  I pretty routinely delete the temporary files and have never had a problem before.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd say the iexplorer.exde process got hung up. Try booting into safe mode & deleting it if it happens again.

Do you have a lot of folders there? Delete them there, and see if it helps.....

Also, in the Advanced Options of IE, you can set the "Empty Temporary Internet Files on browser exit" option to help in the future.....
The easiest way to do this is open IE, on the right side of the screen click the Tools button, then Internet Options. Under Browsing History click the Settings button, in the box next to Disk space to use, set the value to 50 MB (it is normally set to like 1024). Click ok. Then on the Delete Browsing History screen, check all the options you want to delete and click Delete again. Everything should delete this time.

you can manually do it like this, a lot faster:

start > run > cmd
cd %userprofile%
cd locals~1
rd tempor~1 /s/y

when done, exit and you'll be good
DO THIS, Stop using explorer and jump to either Firefox or Google chrome.  Both are superior and a bit safer on the virus/trojan end of browsers.....

Also, in your internet options settings, set it to not remember your history and set the AMOUNT of disk space to use at like 100megs.  That way in the future it does not save so many files that it can hang up.

Problem is, that windows often ignores the values specified for the TIF......
