Is having port 21 and port 9100 forwarded on a Linksys router a hugh security risk?

Bottom Line Up Front.  I have a printer that needs to print across the internet and a NAS that needs to be accessed as well.  Currently have setup my routers to forward both the ip address and ports 21 and 9100.  I have firewalls on one PC and the other is a laptop that my wife uses for her work.

Basically it looks like this
Floor 1
- My PC / NAS / Linksys Router / Cable Modem

Floor 2
- Wife's Laptop / Network Printer (directly connected to router) / Linksys Router / Cable Modem

Basically I have already accomplished in getting FTP access on floor 2 from floor 1 and I have been able to print from Floor 1 to Floor 2's printer.  Oh and if you are wondering -- Yes I am running and paying for two cable modems in my house.  Its more about a renters thing and not wanting to screw up drywall with extra CATV cabling and such.

Just seeing what extra security measures I need to put in place if any.

Firewall and Anti Virus is enough, which firewall your using?

The printer is directly connected onto the router so that would not be a huge security risk and the NAS should be secure enough.

Just make sure both PCs use firewalls and you can always allow port 21 on router but block it on the PC and connect the printer stright to the router that means no risk at all :)
