Sharepoint WSS 3.0: Alerts grab text from wrong column in custom list
I have alerts on set up for a custom list. However when an alert email is sent, the text of the alert is from the text of the custom list's 1st column. I would like to have the alarm grab the text from the 4th column. Can this be done?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I suppose I can trick the system by making the desired 4th column the only mandatory list. I will try this as soon as I can, as our intranet (wtih Sharepoint) is currently down! Thanks for the suggestion...I'll keep you posted.

Hi my sharepoint site is back up now. Since my list is a custom list, it did no have a "title" column. I did make the 4th column as the only mandatory column.....but it did not work. When I set an alert, and the email was transmitted, the title of the alert was once again from the 1st (wrong) column....let me konw what else I may try. Thanks

I also did experiment and changed the name of the 4th column to "title"...but no luck when I experimented with the alert -- the alert still grabs the text from the 1st column.
