The colors and "look" of the site is being controled my various CSS files along with the extensive use of DIV tags. It makes perfect sense to do what you are tying to do, but I think (if I understand the Magento Framework) you would have to hack the Framework.

Take a look here: http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/doc/magento-architecture#preliminary_core_modules_dependency_diagram

and here: http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/groups/174/changing_and_customizing_magento_code

Just to add: One of the problems with change their PHP files might be with updates. An update could overwrite your changes.

templates/3-col-layout.phtml

Like wise there are some phtml files, where you can change the layout, you can also implement scrollbar.

i suppose you aware of .CSS.

does that make sense on what i want to impliment on all pages i have worked with CMS Made Simple and Joomla and all kinds of other PHPs but never the Magento a buddy is starting this website and the back-end just gives you nothing to work with!! i need my good old normal cms back!! any help would be wonderful!!!

if you read the 1-3 post that is what i am trying to accomplish rather than having to put it on the page all the time via how they want you do this. you normally can just put this in the websites template and your good to go..but this is startin to confuse me.... so any help would be greatly greatly appreciated!!

thanks

What version of magento are you on?

If you did not change the design setting through the admin interface then the default layout files are below:

Magento < 1.4
Templates: /app/design/frontend/default/default/template
Css,Javascript,images: /skin/frontend/default/default

In Magento 1.4+
Templates: /app/design/frontend/default/default/template
Css,Javascript,images: /skin/frontend/base/default
Css,Javascript,images: /skin/frontend/default/default
