Linux Anonymous ftp

Files that have been stored into a writeable directory must be examined before being moved to a readable directory in linux

i need a good command to find the writable directory for e.g files recieved from anonymous ftp

How about "find" ;)

usage could be "find <path to start search> (eg. /) -iname (caseinsentitive, "-name" is casesensitive) <file or foldername>

eg. find /etc/ -iname ""

You install such a directory and keep it under tight control see e.g

Try this one:

if the name of directory is dir then:

[[ -d dir && -w dir ]] && echo "writable directory"
I think for your situation, you can use find as below:
# find <dir name you want to traverse> -type d -perm /222

/222 will search for world writeable directories.
