Joomla v 1.5.9, New Super Admin Account

I have a relative who is working with Joomla v 1.5.9, he's run into an issue when trying to save the uploaded media. It doesn't display. He feels it has to do with a security, blacklist issue within Joomla pertaining certain HTML.  Apparently his predecessor had the only Super Admin account and when she left she deleted it. He would like to work around the issue with saving the upload if possible but if there is a way to create a new Super Admin account from an Admin Account perhaps that might be better.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I wanted to follow up with the question and the link provided. My Cousin did find the link helpful but he cannot figure out where or how to access the files referenced. Apparently the way his office uses it, as a web based front end application, he doesn't have access to the files or isn't aware of where they are stored as they are not local or on their servers.

Any idea of what I can tell him?

Hi,

He will need access to the files and the database of course.

First ask him to check the url IP address (the address his Joomla site) and ask the IT person to find out where is the server and how the application was set. Then he will need ftp access or admin access to the installation directory.

If the ip adress is 127.0.0.1 or localhost it's mean the application is local on his computer, if so he will need to find out where is the Apache root folder is ... depending how the webserver is set.

On windows, this can be in C:/program files/Apache2/htdocs

if not check if a webserver kit is existing:

Easyphp / www folder is the root folder

Wamp or Xamp are other webserver kit.

For the database he will need to know where the Database is set.
If you found the Joomla files this will be easy to find the database location, all informationare set in configuration file.

I'm being prompted to close this question or have it considered abandoned. I guess I'll award the points because it sounds like a good solution, I don't wish for it to be labeled as abandoned but I honestly can't attest as to whether or not it worked.
