upload web site files

When I attempt to upload my web site after making additions I get a 404 error. The files can be seen in the remote location, but not in the "public" folder. It did the first time I  uploaded the site
I am using CuteFTP 8 Home.  siteground is my IP host

What is the "public" folder? Is that something that you created or something that is on their panel that allows you to browse the files on your site?

Does it make a difference if you use your website name with an initial 'www' at the beginning of the address, versus not using it. I've had a problem before where my traffic was going to my domain name but not to the site name with 'www' at the beginning.

You might have to setup subdomains or talk to the provider if you don't have access to do it.
