Trouble Booting - Dell Laptop Inspiron 1705

When I try to boot my Dell Laptop, I get stuck at a screen that is totally blank (black) and a blinking cursor in the upper-left corner.
Interestingly, even if I hit F-2 to enter BIOS setup, I get the message "Entering Setup" ... THEN the Laptop never gets into BIOS Setup, it gets stuck at that Black-Blinking-Cursor screen again.
Has anybody run into this ?

I can only think your bios is bad.
You might be able to fix this by removing the bios battery but that can be tricky on some laptops. Not sure where it is on this model.

Good luck

Did anything change before this started happening?

Thunderstorm?

Anything like that?

I've seen this happen in other Dell laptops from the CPU getting a little loose in its socket... you could try just giving it a gentle press to seat it a bit.
