Setting SelectedItem in TCategoryButton

I can figure out which button was selected using

However, I want to "remember" the button that was last selected and restore that when the program is next run. How do I set the SelectedItem button if all I know is the Category ID and SelectedItem ID? Is there a easier way to retore the last state ot TCategoryButton?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Finally figured it out. VCL is bad about reusing the same name mulitple times throught the hierarchy.

This works:
 given int cat_id, button_id;

TButtonItem * selected;

selected = CategoryButtons1->Categories->Items[cat_id]->Items->Items[button_id];
CategoryButtons1->SelectedItem = selected;

Got those 3 levels of Items...
