VNC software that is free and runs in stealth mode

We have a call centre where a certain amount of agent monitoring required.  This monitoring need to be done without the agent knowing and as a result needs to run in stealth mode and not show an icon near the clock for the users to see.

If someone could recommend the best free version that has this capability it would be appreciated.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Don't know of any that is free AND stealthy.

Dameware is an option, if memory serves, that's fairly low cost (licensed by the tech using it)

Otherwise, you would need a tool like

Just be aware of potential legal issues if your employees aren't aware of the possibility that you'll monitor.

Thanks for that.  It needed to be VNC as that is the technology required to interface with the monitoring app, and I had seen TightVNC and wondered if it was any good.  I will try that then.

UltraVNC ( has an option for hiding it from the taskbar/tray, see this forum response:
