All SharePoint Calendar events modified by the same person

I am seeing a strange problem with my organizations master SharePoint calendar. Every 2 to 3 weeks ALL the events will show that they have been modified by the same person. When I talk to these certain people, they say that they have not been on the calendar page for days. It is only 3 or 4 people out of the organization that show up as modifiers. All of them have their outlook calendars synced with the SharePoint calendar, so I can't help but think it is something on their clients. I appreciate any suggestions.

We had this problem and it is related to synching with Outlook. Our biggest problem with this was related specifically to a Tasks List being synched to Outlook tasks, but it has happened on just regular calendar items as well. Typically this occurs when someone who has this list synched with Outlook will either connect to another computer that is not theirs (i.e., a conference room computer, borrowed laptop, etc.) and try to load the Outlook client there. Sometimes (and actually, almost always),  this problem has caused significant issues with the Outlook client not loading, being slow to load, freezing, etc. We thought it was because our lists were long and complicated, but it has happened on some of our simpler, shorter lists too.

Our resolution was to only allow a few people to connect to the list - those with edit access - in order to stop the updates from happening. This has alleviated the problem, but it is not truly a fix. We have a case open with Microsoft and they have been unable to help with a resolution.

Janice, thank you very much for the response. I have discussed this solution with the person in charge of the organizational calendar and he is going to tighten down the permissions and implentment stricter access controls and see if that makes a difference. There are a lot of folks with edit permissions on the calendar and tighter restrictions have been needed for awhile now. The suspect users all have several calendars and tasks lists synced with outlook, so I am sure we are seeing the same problems that you experienced. Hopefully the tighter restrictions with help with this problem. Again, thank you so much for the help. John
Just an FYI, we ran into the same thing, opened a case with MS, the only thing they could think to do was export the calendar, delete, then reload it.  A few months later, we got the same thing, though with alerts set, it meant that whoever had alerts on that calendar got 300+ emails.

TTU. Thanks for the info. Yeah, my users that have alerts set get flooded with emails too. I don't think there is a true "fix", just some workarounds. John
