Exchange 2010 Standared edition and DAG - Disaster recovery
The question is what’s the minimum spec that DAG needs to work. According to SAMs “Exchange 2010 Unleashed” DAGs need the Enterprise edition of Exchange to replicate between two severs.
Does DAG then have any use in the standard edition of Exchange 2010 and if not can the standard edition have any sort of disaster recovery other than dial tone.
thank you

You need to have 2008 Server Enterprise as your base OS as you will need to add Failover Clustering for DAG to work.

"" On the server side, Exchange Server Standard will now support high availability, so all customers can take full advantage of the new database availability group capabilities. Exchange Server Enterprise enables configurations with up to 100 databases per server. ""

>>you will need to add Failover Clustering for DAG to work
You do NOT need to add failover clusting, the clusterincg is controlled by Exchange, the Failover Clustering components are installed as part of the DAG installation WITHIN Exchange. The Failover/database copy/witness server are all managed from within the Exchange Management Console.

>>you will need to add Failover Clustering for DAG to work .. Not right info. Exchange Takes Care of all clustering needs for DAG to work.
