Losing router signal after laptop recovers from sleep mode

When the computer recovers from sleep mode, it often loses its router connection and I can only recover by restarting the router i.e. restarting the computer does not resolve the issue

My router model:

Wireless-N Broadband Router (WRT300N)

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

I would recommend new drivers for your computer's wireles network card.

How long is your laptop usually in sleep mode for.  Your computer leases an ip address from your router for a certain amount of time.  I bet restarting your laptop fixes your problem right?

Does it only loose connection after waking back up?  If your router is a version 1 or 1.1 you can download a new firmware upgrade from the site: "http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT300N"  I have fixed many bugs in my router but upgrading the firmware.
