I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Depends on what's in your cab files. Where did you get them? what's inside?

One way is to extract those activeX files, and write a logon script that would copy them to the target computers, then create necessary registry entries.

Not at all to criticize, quite possibly it's 100% useful article, but couldn't miss the beginning: "This post is different from my usual posts, mainly because I have no idea what I am talking about!" LOL.

...on more serious note - "why it does not work" regarding Option 1 - is effectively listing all the scenarios that are in fact properly taken into account by Windows Installer, and the fact of them been addressed is one of Installer's main advantages.
