DHCP reservation (inactive)?

Hi I created a DHCP reservation and it has inactive in parenthesis. What does this mean? Is it working? Thanks

A reservation generally consists of
detailed information regarding the client.
The necessary elements needed for input are:
A reservation name, which the administrator allocates for the client;
The IP address, which must be taken from the scope or “pool”;
The client’s MAC (Media Access Control) address, entered without the hyphens
and with a description of the reservation account.
Did you provide all of the above?

do you have two dhcp server or one and also if you have other scope or oone scope only, in this casethe reservation should be done on both either scopes or servers. then just make sure that the pc to which you assign the address for is aquiring the reserved address. and also check that this PC does not have static ip address assigned to it.

Now it says its active. Maybe its inactive until the machine contacts the DHCP server for a new IP address? not sure

yes sure it will be inactive untill the reservation is active which means that your pc gets the correct ip address reserved for it only then the reservation will get active.
