.MSG files using Lotus Notes

I have recently migrated one of our offices away from Microsoft Outlook 2007 to Lotus Notes 7.0.3 however it now seems that some users would save some of their Outlook emails down to .msg files on to the file server. What would be the best way for them to continue viewing these .msg files ?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This will give your users a way to view them free. The downside is that it is a separate application. And if you have the money sunk into Notes, you may have restrictions on using this kind of freeware.

Either way, there are plenty of free viewers out there.

I tried the File / Import route and whilst it stated 3 messages had been imported I was not able to find them anywhere. Can you tell me where it places these messages for viewing ?

You might check the All documents view.

An alternative could be to use PDFCreator to print the mail as a PDF file, and put it as an attachment in the mail database. Not so perfect.

Another alternative is to install Notes with the option to install the migration tools as well. These tools can help you import .pst files and maybe also .msg-files. See
How exactly it works on Notes I don't know.
