Word 2007 Revision History

I use Vista.  This is a follow up to Q 25838669.  from the Advanced Properties, how does one select a field to add from the Custom tab.  I want to add the Date completed field.  And I selected the Date value.  But the Add button is greyed out.  How do I add this field to my document or any of the fields that are listed in the Custom tab. Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You have to put something in the Value box.

Also, once you've entered something in the Value box and clicked the Add button, to add this information as a field within the document, do the following:
  • Go to the place in the document where you want the custom property to appear
  • Click the Insert ribbon
  • Under the Text group, click Quick Parts
  • From the list of option, select the Field
  • From the Field dialog box:
    • Select Document Information under the Categories list
    • Select DocProperty under the Field Names list
    • Select the custom property (e.g. Date completed) from the Property list
    • Click on OK
