sharepoint workflow to create word doc

I created a sharepoint workflow that uses word 2007 docx as a template to create the document.

I have several fields I originally created as yes/no that are represented in the final document as true/false.

I have also modified this field to be shown as 0, 1 from a number choice dropdown, however the final document they are still represted as true false?  

I need them to either be 1 or 0 or a checkbox.  I don't know of a way to do this, but I am sure it exists.  perhaps a flag on the end of the field or something.  IF you have suggestions, please don't hesitate to share.  I have exhausted the basics I think, but I know there is an expert out their that can help.

Not really a solution but a potential work around.

How about adding a additional calculated column that returns "0" or "1" based on the other column (0/1). Then use the calculated column in your word document instead.
