CRM 4 + Tight integration to phone


I have tried finding my answer with a Search of this forum - no luck.

Our company is new to Dynamics CRM 4.0 and our users want to be able to do direct automated phone dialing through the CRM in the same manner that they could in their previous Contact Manager software.

And they want the SW-Phone integration to be TIGHT - meaning that requesting a dial will not launch some additional software package, but instead merely dial the phone.

Obviously the phones themselves need to support this, but from a software perspective everything I have read indicates that this will require a 3rd party component/activeX/etc. to accomplish this.

Can anyone shed some light on getting this functionality working with MS Dynamics CRM 4.0?

And/or does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on 3rd party software packages to look at?

Since you didn't include any personal recommendations, I am guessing that you are not personally familiar with integrating it or using it.
Regardless, it is certainly a start.

Lets wait for a short while to see if others have any additional suggestions and/or recommendations.
