Exchange install will not complete. MSExchangeSA service fails to start.

I am having a hard time installing a 2nd exchange server. Each time the install fails with "Msexchangesa failed to reach a Running status." The event logs will then flood in with Error level 2114 and Information 2080.

Here are the details of the logs:

Look up the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) error code specified in the event description. To do this, use Microsoft Knowledge Base article 218185, "Microsoft LDAP Error Codes." Use the information in that article to learn more about the cause and resolution to this error. Use the Ping or PathPing command-line tools to test network connectivity to local domain controllers.

We have 1 Exchange server with HB, MB, CA roles installed and the 2nd one we once had setup for SCR copy which I uninstalled and am now setting this new one up for the SCR copy. We recently did a recovery option on our existing Exchange box to put it on a vm. Everything is up and running, but it is spewing out 2601, 2604, & 2501 errors in the event log which is another problem in its own. I've done a lot of googling and most everything that's out there looks fine. I will add that we used to have 2 W2k3 DCs and those were moved to 2 W2k8R2 DCs. These are all on vms. Sorry if I don't put a bunch of info on here that I've checked and looks fine, but if there are any thoughts on this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Just to throw an update out there. Before, I re-ran setup and it would fail on that service everytime. I just re-ran it and it failed on MSExchangeTransportLogSearch. Re-ran it again, failed on MSExchangeServiceHost. If you would like to see the install log, I can provide that, it's just lengthy.

Thanks.

It's not 2008 R2 is it? If so Exchange 2007 is not supported on R2

Exchange Enterprise Servers was listed there, but Exchange Servers was not. I did add that group. I did a gupdate /force and will reboot the server. I'll let you know what I find.

That did the trick. Adding Exchange Servers group is what was needed. Thanks for you help. I knew I should have put this in instead of wasting 2 days of time on it.
