First of all, I don't have good understanding on HTML5 yet...  So take it with the grain of salt...  ;)

I don't believe HTML5 will play SWF...  It's either use canvas in HTML5 to create what you did in SWF...  In other words, it is one or the other kind of stuff...

So, to answer your question, create the replica of your SWF in HTML5 and have it played in iPad...  It's just different technologies...

But to add to your question, Flash and HTML5 video are two very different things.

Traditional HTML is able to embed Flash, however, HTML 5 just adds video and animation capabilities to the base features. The addition of HTML 5s capabilities has nothing to do with the SWF format.

What is your animation? Is it a plain video? You might be able to play it in HTML 5 using a different format, but SWF will not work.

Sorry. :(

In order to use the embed element, the operating system (in this case the iPad) still needs to have the plugins in order to play the file you embedded. Just embedding it in the HTML is not enough.

Sadly, as I said, the iPad has no plugin for Flash, and therefore, it is not possible to run the SWF format.

No, you will have to wait till the ipad offers flash support or discover a workaround for what you want to implement.
