LMS Service cannot connect to Intel(R) MEI driver(2)

Since I did not see an answer for this one, I am going to repost
Log Name:      Application
Source:        LMS
Date:          4/13/2010 6:55:30 AM
Event ID:      1
Task Category: None
Level:         Warning
Keywords:      Classic
User:          SYSTEM
Computer:      LAT200AD018.carousel.local
Description:
LMS Service cannot connect to Intel(R) MEI driver

The second Intel warning is:
Log Name:      Application
Source:        Intel Control Center
Date:          4/10/2010 6:18:40 AM
Event ID:      0
Task Category: None
Level:         Warning
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      LAT200AD018
Description:
The description for Event ID 0 from source Intel Control Center cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Invalid target application: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Management Engine Components\IMSS\PrivacyIconClient.exe due to the following error: Signature did not verify

the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

The original response to the original posting was :
Is the LMS service running? I would try re-installing Intel Matrix Storage Manager if you are using the management execution engine for that.

Two problems: 1. There is not LMS service and the only driver Dell has is Rapid storage Technology (AHCI)

What model Optiplex?

Some models don't have MEI or LMS support or it can be turned off in the BIOS and therefore installing the software for it causes errors since it's not there.

Optiplex 980

I briefly looked at the bios and did not see LMS. However, I would not know what section LMS might be under.
For other readers, let me clarify. The LMS is Local Manageablility Servi ce. The link http://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2009/12/18/intel-amt-software-lms-heci-mei-why-do-i-need-those-part-10-in-the-series/ ties the LMS with the HECI and AMT. I do not know how Netman66 found a newer version of AMT HECI than was found when I entered the service tag in the Dell search engine.

I did installl the AMT HECI found by Netman66 and the Intell Chipset Software Installation Utility.

1 wait to see if the event ID listed return.
Still getting LMS Service cannot connect to Intel(R) MEI driver
Once you're booted up, clear the event logs and restart the LMS service - do the errors log again?

It may just be a service dependency issue where LMS is attempting to talk to the ME and it's not ready.

If you don't plan on managing this thing remotely using the hardware assisted mamangement engine, then uninstall all the MEI and LMS software and hardware in Device Manager.

In the device manager I can see the Intel Management Engine Interface. I do not see LMS in Services or in device manager. Suggestions on where to look?

I am not seeing Event 1 LMS each time I go through the power up and power down. That would add support to Netman66 statement that ME is not ready.
Run msconfig from the run box and check startup and services to see if it's listed.

Maybe?
I see Intel Management and Security Application Local Management Service in Services
Others
Intel Management & Security Application User Notification Service.
Intel Rapid Storage Technology

 and IAStorIcon Intel in Startup
Both the Intel Management and Security services are there.

Ok, in Programs and Settings there should be the Intel software listed.  You can remove them.

Alternately, if the drivers and apps you downloaded have and MSI you can rerun them and select remove all.

If you never intend on using hardware assisted management, then it's safe to remove all traces of the software to eliminate your errors.

Are you meaning in the control panel programs and features?

The programs and features show:
Intel Control Center
Intel Management Engine Components
Intel Rapid Storage Technology

I am assuming you are talking about removing the Intel Management Engine Components
Yes.

Just to clarify, the one component you want to keep is the Matrix drivers - they're for the AHCI hard drive controller.

The problem I have been having is that Intel is not consistent with their terms. I am having trouble tying the pieces together ex LMS to AMT.

There is no component named matrix that I see. Therefore going back to the Programs and Features, then I assume you are saying keep the Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

The Intel Control Center I assume I also keep because that is what I will use to set up the RAID.  The RAID setup is another issue and I do not plan to further discuss that in this thread.

It doesn't appear Intel Control Center is important. It gives the computer name, version of Windows, CPU, total system memory and a link to Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Selecting the Intel Rapid Storage Technology link asked if IASTorUI can run.  Any of the information and the link are available elsewhere.
My last comments did not post. I said I found answers in several of the posts by Netman66. I thanked Netman66 for his response. I said that I might just live with the intermittent warning but that I had a better understanding if I wanted to do something about the LMS warning. I finallly said that the Intel Control Center event only showed once.
Thanks!  Pleasure working with you.
