Windows 7 Deployment

Does anyone know of any software that's good for deploying Windows 7 other than MDT 2010?  I seem to have an unsolvable problem with it.

Well you could always try the symantec ghost solution suite.

We are currently using this for our windows 7 deployments. We are a kind of small shop so we are still only doing 5-10 machines at a time using the ghost boot cd but the ghost solution suite has other options like PXE boot that you could probably utilize if you needed to do mass deployments of lots of computers.

Ghost is made by a Symantec - I wouldn't trust them with my network - they are AWESOME at marketing, but their business practices and programming, in my opinion and many others I've conversed with, is AWFUL.  Use them at your own risk.

Windows Deployment Server is FREE and supports PXE booting and Multicasting and the images can be manually applied if you like as well as later imported into SCCM if you want to do that at a later date.

I'd sooner suggest clonezilla than Symantec.  (I'd also suggest Acronis over Symantec).

I am using WDS and it works well. In fact the WDS that comes with 2008 R2 is so good I like it better than SCCM for the most part. You can add drivers support for the images now from a central repository. It will also deploy to dis-similar hardware. And its free.....

You can deploy with

- Windows Deployment Service (WDS)
  -> For Small- and Mid-sized Environments
- Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
  -> For Small- and Mid-sized Environments
  -> Main difference: Own a CMDB Database
- System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  -> For Enterprise Environments
  -> Main difference: WakeOnLAN

Note:
- MDT and SCCM uses WDS when deploying Windows over the network
- You can also use a combination between MDT and SCCM
