Cannot install a standby Blackberry Enterprise Server

I am currently trying to install a standby Blackberry Enterprise Server.
I currently have a functioning BES 5.0 SP1 server and want to test the new HA.

I logged into my server which I intend to use as the standby BES as the besadmin account and proceeded to run setup.

I selected "I would like the installation process to use an existing Blackberry Configuration Database" and hit next.  At the next screen I selected "Remote" for database location and proceeded to put the SQL Server name and Blackberry Configuration Database name.  For the SQL server name I entered it as it is displayed on the other BES "host\instance"

I have "Back up the existing Blackberry Configuration Database to the default location before upgrading the Blackberry Configuration Database" selected. and Windows authentication.

The error I receive when I hit next is "The setup application cannot connect to the database server that you specified.  Verify the information that you provided and verify that the database server is running.  For more information, see the setup log."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What level of permission on the database does the account have?
Can you run a profiler to see what account it is trying to install with?

The main BES 5.0 Server installation used the default SQL 2005 Express and was installed using the same besadmin account that I am currently using to install the stanby BES.  I have the besadmin account as a local admin on the standby BES and I am not providing any other credentials when running setup.

Try creating an ODBC connection to the database using that user and see if its on the sql side or bes

I believe my problem is due to the fact that I did not have the Blackberry Attachment Service installed first before attempting to install the Standby server.

I have found plenty of documentation explaining that I need the Blackberry Attachment Service installed but none stating exactly how.

Do I run through the BES setup twice?  Once to install the Blackberry Attachment Service and again to install the Standby?

The only way that I can see for installing the Blackberry Attachment Service is running through the BES installation which creates a local database and does not attach to the remote database.  Thoughts?

The only way I got it to work is by creating the sa account on the SQL Express.  Also make sure that you're firewall on your SQL Express server allows TCP/IP connection to it's port 135 and 445.

What I ended up doing is creating two new SQL servers, reinstalled the primary 5.0 server and then was able to successfully install the Standby server.

I ran across a bug though when the LDAP password was changed.  The fix was to uninstall the Blackberry Administration Service and then install it again.  I ran across another bug when uninstalling so I will be redoing the entire environment once again.

The resolution though was to use separate SQL servers and not express when using the HA features.
