Outlook2007 > Exchange2003 - Emails going missing - Strange


Last night I checked my emails on my smartphone and Listed lots of new emails from trusted people/ friends (left them un read)

When i booted up my computer at work logged into outlook although i was connected to the exchange server these emails were not there. I checked my smartphone and
watched as the emails i saw the previous evening dissapear before my eyes...

I proceeded to back up my OST on Outlook and re-create my profile with the excahgne server. It started to update inbox but the was 1/2 the size of what it should be (and the size that it is on the exchange server). And now that it has finished I have a huge gap in emails 3 or 4 months missing and no calender entries.

I have checked the exchange server and it is not in a dirty shut down state and have run isinteg -s <servername> -test Alltests
and no errors found.

Any one any ideas what has happended and how I can sort.

Your help would be most appreciated!!!

Hi Not quite sure what happened there but if they got deleted on your PC with outlook 2007, you can try and recover them by going into your outlook > Tools > Recover deleted items.

I think by default the exchange 2003 keeps deleted items for 30 days so give it a go asap.

Not in Deleted Items. They never appeared in outlook 2007 at all.

Could you have accidently deleted these mails from your handheld device?
Also do you have a roaming profile and logon from more then one PC?

Well the last resort might be long way around is to restore form your backups. I hope you do backup you server / exchange on regular basis.

No I haven't deleted anything

Will restore from a backup and see if that sorts.
