Internet Connection constantly says "Please connect to the internet to use Google Sync"..I am connected?

I have this machine that is connected to the internet. I can browse with FireFox with no problems whatsoever. I have several applications that give me a similar error. It says that they cannot connect. Currently I have attempted updating my Google calendar sync, McAfee and IE8 none of them will work. In fact IE8 gives me a "Page Not displayed." Has anyone seen this or would know what to look for. Consequently I have uninstalled and reinstalled McAfee by the disk and found no viruses.  Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Remember FireFox allows me access to any thing browsing downloads etc.

Go into your internet option and verify that your connection settings haven't been changed to a proxy server. I would also suggest running Malware and Antivirus scans to see if there are malicious programs blocking your access

You were right man thanks. Could an application have set that. I do not recall ever going into Options Connections and LAN settings to do that. That is weird.
Malware will change the proxy server settings to stop you from running Anti Virus and Malware cleaners. You should really scan your computer.

Glad I could help you.
