OWA URL Internal Network Redirect

Currently we have OWA configured with a different URL internally and externally, for example: mail2.domain.com (external) and mail.domain.local (internal).  Both are working when accessing from their appropriate zone.  However, I cant access OWA from the internal network when using the external URL.  Is there a way I can do this?  The issue is several of our mobile users cant access their email when connected to our internal WiFi network, since the connection is established using the external URL.

Thanks in advance,

You can add a DNS record in your internal DNS server and point it to "yourmailserver internal address". The record that you need to create is a CNAME record.

For Example You internal address is mail.domain.local and your external address is mail2.domain.com, So your CNAME record will look like this:

mail2 ===>mail ( On your Internal DNS server)

Can I create a CNAME record for a domain which the DC is not authoritative?  My internal DNS is only authoritative for domain.local.  I was able to create the CNAME record for mail2 ==>mail but unfortunately that still didnt work as intended since mail2.domain.com still did not work but mail2 did.  I deleted that one and created a new CNAME record with mail2.domain.com as the alias and mail.domain.local as the target but that did not work either.
You can create an additional zone, with domain.com. From there you can add this record. It should work flawlessly.
