Virtual Machine Manager running on VM

I have a physical server at a client that I would like to P2V.  I would like to create a virtual machine with server 2008 ahead of time and bring it with me to the client.Once on-site join the VM to the domain and install VMM.  Use it to P2V the physical server and then uninstall.

My question is can VMM run on a virtual machine for this purpose only?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you have RDP access to the client's server, you can download "DISK2VHD" from the following link :

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ee656415.aspx

Its a small utility and will convert an online machine to either local storage, attached storage or to a network share too.

I have used this with 100% success rate and without effecting any services or downtime on Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows 7, & R2.

As it is only one server, I would take the disk2vhd route instead.

a server with 50GB OS Partition took around half hour or so to convert it in a vhd.
