"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Using ADfind you would use a command similar to
adfind>adfind -f "(&(objectCategory=group)(cn=groupname))" attr list member

This will return the DN of the users in the group.

And if you wanted you could use DSquery to come up with a little cleaner report you can run

dsquery group -name groupname | dsget group -members | dsget user -display

do I run the dsquery in a command line?  Also, my distirbution list name start with a period .test-external.  do I place quatation?
Joseph DalyCommented:
To run the dsquery you would need to have the administrative tools (adminpak.msi) installed on the machine your running this on. You could also run the dsquery from a domain controller.

Once you have the adminpak installed all you need to do is open a command prompt and paste in the DSquery command.

Ive never tested with a group that starts with a . it may work without any quotes.
