who is blocking the excel XLA

I have a XLA made for a group of people. The open as addin.
Now I can't save anymore. excel says it opend my xla (I open normal not as addin) when I am trying to save it as readonly?

could it be someone else did already open the XLA in change modus?
And how can I find who it is?

kind regards

Is it possible that you have a second instance of Excel open on your machine which already uses the add-in?

Hi mike

Even when I close excel and open it, check that the XLA is not loaded, load it and directly try to save it tells me it is readonly. until yesterday it worked fine?

Is the add-in located on your machine or on a network drive?

If the addin is on a network location, when someone else has it open it will be marked as "in use", *unless* you changed the readonly property of the file from explorer.

hmm I see,

can I change this readonly before I load the XLA  and change it back to readonly
on exit of excel?

ps xla is on network

Here is what I'd do (prevents LOTS of problems):

- Edit the xls(m) file
- Save-as to xla locally
- change local file to readonly (rightclick, properties, check box)
- copy file to network.
