Mssqlserver 2005

I stop and restart my sqlserver 2005 instance and I notice that my msdb database status is (msdb in recovery) which create a problem that the sql service agent cannot be started. The msdb database ldf file is 11.4 GB. What can I do to fix this msdb in recovery status and get the sql service agent started.

After restart SQL Server automatically runs a FAST RECOVERY ("in recovery" status meas that). If the log file of the database is very large and the recovery modell is FULL than this method takes long time.
You should decrease the size of the log of the msdb database.

DBCC SHRINKDATABASE('msdb' )
GO
DBCC SHRINKFILE ('MSDBLog' , 0)
