What would you recomend as the best entry level NAS available with RAID, FTP, remote access and access restrictions?

Hello Experts,

Heres is my question:

What would you recommend as the best entry level NAS available with RAID, FTP, remote access and access restrictions?

Some brands like Netgear, D-Link and Cisco offer many models but i need pros and cons.

I was thinking about HP Home Server line up too as a replacement for a NAS,  what else come to your mind?

Please reply,

Thank you!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

How do you define "best"?   Price, rock-solid-bet-you-life-no-data-loss, expandability, RAID5/10/1 support,  1Gb or 100Mbit interface, encryption, performance?

Each of your vendors makes more than one product. It is not appropriate to make recommendations about a company based on what may be several products that meet your needs.

It would be more helpful, and you will get better answers if you do your homework, choose the specific Netgear, D-LINK, Cisco unit(s) that meet your personal and rightfully biased definition of "best" and let the experts take over and point out pros and cons for the models that meet your budgetary/feature needs.

for your request i think best solution will be QNAP nas devices. They can be ftp server, http server, file server with access right management . and of course raid support . I used different models of their nas devices.  One important point their cooler fans always have silence sound. Inside of it it has linux so very powerfull  for crashing issues. Also has good management interface.
Have a look from their site : www.qnap.com
