ASA 5510 TFTP timeouts

hello,

I have an ASA 5510 and I recently started using an untangle web filter between the ASA and my LAN. Since then I have timeout issues on my avaya phones to the TFTP server. Anyone know the command on the ASA to increase the timout value? It seems the ASA is terminating my TFTP connections now.

What phone system are you using?     Where is the TFTP server located in relation to the ASA and web filter?   Where are the phones located in relation to the same?

The ASA wouldn't be "timing out" any connections like this....     but we can check anyway.    If this just started after the new web filter, then that is a red flag right there.

I use an avaya ip office. The tftp server is located in my main plant which connects to the web filter and asa through an mpls connection. I added an exemption rule on the web filter but I think the extra hop might be too much for the tftp connection.

Are you using the IP Office TFTP or a 3rd party...  either way, you should 1st check to see if the initial requests are even reaching the server.

As a test, I would 1st use a PC to try and TFTP the file from the remote server and see if it works to the PC.   Use any TFTP client such as the client from this page: http://www.tftp-server.com/tftp-download.html

What do you get from the PC test?

I found there were a couple exemption rules on the webfilter that I missed. Once I put the exemptions in, TFTP transfers seem to be working properly. Thank you.
