I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Most likely it is set to start in msconfig. Start>>Run>>msconfig Once that is open go to the startup tab and look for the IDT Audio Control Panel and uncheck the box for it, you will have to reboot, but that should take care of it.

also, it is a very newer looking audio control panel than I had, almost like I got a new motherboard which I did not. Just a new hard drive and all data transferred.

Check the options for the Audio Control Panel, there may be an option for 'run at startup'. If not, the last place to check would be a registry key, but that would be last resort. Newer looking panel could be result of an upgrade to the software.

Also on the start menu under programs check the startup folder and make sure that this is not listed.

"sttray"

That should be the startup entry right there.....

sttray.exe Windows process - What is it?

I looked for an option to "run on startup" and found none.
start > programs > startup folder was empty.

johnb6767:
sttray was it.
