Radio Button and Check Box Issue in Filemaker Pro

Even though I set a script on a "Closed" radio button (same with check box) on OnObjectEnter, even if the user makes the choice in the dialogue box to not close after all, the box or button is still selected.  I accounted for this by doing a set field to open.  However, I have found that if the user chooses to click on a closed record in order to open it back up again, they get the dialogue asking if they want to close the record.  How do you account for this -- set a variable so you can tell in which direction it moves (from closed to open or open to closed)?  Thanks.

what for? don't use trigger on checkboxes, there are native triggers on field values.
what do you want to do? this is not clear to me; wnhat means to close a radio button? it is on or off: what is supposed to to the triggered action?

Selecting the radio button so that it darkens give the field a value of "Closed" insted of "".  However, before it will close, the agent is asked a series of questions to ensure they are ready to close it.  If not, then the field is set back to "".  However, when one reopens a Lead by clicking on the Status Radio button, the same questions pop up.  I only want the questions when going from Open to Closed, not Closed to Open.  Is that clear?
OnObjectEnter is a bit fake for a radio or checkbox, since it is a single action object. so whatever you do with your triggered script, your action will be done
anyway, you field mod being only temporary.
make this field control behaviour off for entry mode and use button setup to assign a script to it.

Ah, that does it.  So you just close them of from any direct data entry into the field and do it via a button and probably a dialogue input box.  Correct?
