Watchguard X750E optional port set up for internet

I have a watchguard x750e xtm v11.1.  I would like to use one of the optional port to set up a network for guest to use for internet access.

So far I used Optional-5.  Set it up for DHCP to issue to and gave it an external DNS server address (

I also set a rule in the policy manager for from Option-5 to any-external

I plugged it in to a notebook.  It does issue an address, gateway of and dns

I can ping the outside world, but cannot browse the web.

Any help thanks in advance.

Good Afternoon Shane,

Do you have specific filtered or proxy outgoing services, (http, etc.) for Optional-5 added?  You mentioned you setup a rule - what kind of rule?  Can you provide a print screen?

Hi LJ,

It is a HTTP rule.

Here is a ss

Hi Shane,

You will also need an Outgoing service for Optional-5 as well.  \

Hi LJ,

I added that and I still have the same results.

Good Morning Shane,

When you have a moment, can you check your Traffic Monitor for any activity using Optional-5?

shane0991Author Commented:
Sure LJ

Here ya go.

It is being denied, but I don't understand why?

Hi Shane,

It looks like either the Optional port number is wrong or the cable is physically connected into the wrong port.  In the previous print screen, you have an HTTP policy setup for the Optional-5 port.  However, in your Traffic Monitor print screen, the Firebox is denying Optional-6 traffic.  So, try the following:

1.  Check the physical connection on the Firebox and make sure it is plugged into the port coinciding with Optional-5;
2.  If the cable is physically connected to Optional-5, modify your HTTP and Outgoing services and change to Optional-6.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi LJ,

It is set up correctly.  The actual ports start with 0 on this box.  So when you see 6-Optional that means port 6 type optional. Named Alais is Optiona-5.
Unhandled packet is what traffic monitor says; can you check few things:
1. On the machines which are connected on port 5; the machines have as default gateway.
2. In policy manager; you have NAT configured for port5:
Network->NAT; dynamic NAT; you should have an entry like; if not, add:
optional-5 to Any-external; save to FB.
3. Other than HTTP Service; you also have services like DNS or outgoing allowed to allow traffic on required ports.

Please update.

Thank you.
