Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) question

My motherboard ASUS P7H57D-V EVO has a 6 port SATA controller onboard that I am using to do RAID. I was looking for some software so I can monitor it from the OS.

I tried searching the Intel site but could not find any software.

can anyone help?

Once a RAID volume is created using Intel® Rapid Storage Technology, the S.M.A.R.T. values of the hard drives can no longer be viewed by third party software utilities that read these values.

This is a known issue. While S.M.A.R.T. values cannot be viewed by third party software utilities, they are still reported as S.M.A.R.T. alerts by the Intel Rapid Storage Technology user interface and tray icon... http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/cs-015002.htm
You can also monitor the RAID volume by going through the event viewer logs periodically.

so as this is a known issue, is this something that should be resolved in the near future or did Intel do this by design.

Hard to tell you what Intel might consider they "need" to do in the future, especially if they are already providing the S.M.A.R.T. monitoring themselves..... But they do "admit" to it as an "ISSUE" so hopefully we can expect future "compatibility" with other applications.
