No host or ip address assigned to vmware image.

I'm running a 9.10 ubuntu server guest instance using vmware server 2.

I'm using NAT.

However under the summary screen the "DNS Name" and "IP Addresses" fields say "Not Available".

How do I get a DNS name and ip address to be assigned?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Are the network using DHCP? You can issue the command 'sudo dhclient' to refresh the DHCP address from the network.

Have you tried switching from 'NAT' in WMware to 'Brigde mode' for the client?
