outlook 2007 calendar missing

I have a user using outlook 2007 sp2 running on exchange 2007 sp2. his calendar is missing from his folder list. this seems to be a view issue but I have never seen it before. If you right mouse the calendar icon in outlook and open in new window his calendar does appear.
have started outlook using various switches all same results. Calendar is fine in OWA.
even created another outlook profile on a different laptop for his account and get the same results. the user is using German language pack on his laptop

thanks

Ray
