SBS 2003 Domain Accounts slow to open files

I’m having some problems with domain accounts that use roaming profiles (Windows 2003 SBS).

I have a 25 user network and around 6 of the user accounts have suddenly become very slow opening MS Word or Excel files even if they are saved on the desktop.  In some cases it can take around 5 minutes for these files to open.

Are ideas would be appreciated?  All these clients are XP Pro SP3 using Office 2007 SP2.

As you said it is roaming profile, can you please check the size of doc or word file? I believe all your windows are updated.

All MS Word and Excel files are slow to open regardless of their size.  I even created an empty file saved it to a client desktop and it still suffered the same problem.

Did you change anything or applied patches for word and excel?

Nothing has changed that I can think of.

The only solution I can see at the moment is to recreate the user profiles affected.

Another point to note is if I log onto the computer in quesiton under a different user there is no issue.

You can try changing first user profile in question. if you feel things are working, then do it for others in question.

I have deleted one of the problem accounts in question and recreated it but It's still slow opening MS files.  The acocunt in question has many shortcuts mapping to netwoked files.

Johnb6767 Can you explain the "use DDE"?  I dont quite understand what I need to do.

Abhay PujariCommented:
You can simply delete them. Its like cached files.
