You can download this extension and it will do that for you.
Default Firefox installation does not have that function

When I right-click any tab header, the context menu offers me this (among other options):
- Add bookmark for current tab
- Add bookmark for all tabs
The latter option lets me select or create a bookmark folder to hold the new additions, just like when adding only one tab. And the newly added bookmarks appear in the side bar.

Are you sure you don't have these options?

I usually run lots of extensions, but there is none specialized in bookmarks or the side bar, so I'd tend to think this works by default.

thank you.

torimar, the option you mention is accessed with shortcut ctrl shift d, but does not allow bookmarking all tabs to Bookmars Sidebar, but instead pops up a limited window without search etc, which is very impractical if you have thousands of bookmarks and folders.

vukovarcan, i checked your link out and also found https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11199?src=oftenusedwith
unfortunately again these extensions do not allow bookmark ALL open tabs into sidebar specific location by drag and drop ...

any other extensions out ther ethat might do it?

cheers

KristjanLaane, The Bookmarks Sidebar is simply your complete list of Bookmarks.  I haven't found a Drag and Drop solution, considering there isn't a way to select all Open tabs, however when Selecting "Bookmark All Tabs"  don't you get a Show All Folders as an option to where to place the New Folder that will hold your Tabs?

This add-on may help a little, but I don't really think Drag and drop is doable for what you desire.
Add Bookmark Here
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3880
Expand all fields of the Bookmark Dialog.
+ Customize the position of "Add Bookmark Here" & "Open All Tabs".
+ Remember your last selected folder when you bookmark a page
+ Allow to insert bookmarks from the top of Menu.
+ Allow to add a bookmark without Dialog.
+ Allow to single-click the Star to show the Bookmark Dialog.
and this one might be worth looking at as well.

i can just select teh tabs i want with shift or ctrl (or just select all the tabs) and then drag them to the bookmarks sidebar where i wish.
