"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Does it re-appear when you move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen?

Right-click the start button & click properties
Click the taskbar tab
Make sure there is a checkmark in "Lock the taskbar" & "Auto-hide the taskbar" is unchecked.

Hi grump:  Lock Tb checked, Auto-hide unchecked.

I changed the theme back to Windows 7 basic and it reappeared.  I'll keep an eye on it to see if it disappears again.

Ahh, in which case it's either a 3rd party screensaver, or make sure that you have your latest graphic card drivers.
