Mattel - MindFlex - Real or No?

Thinking of buying the MindFlex toy -- read one Amazon article that said a German scientist proved it did not respond to brain waves.  Thoughts?  Don't want to buy it if it is a bunch of hype.  Does it really pick up brain waves or is it random as the scientist suggests?

My Mattel Barbie dolls have ESP

Assuming your post is serious, it has been proved it does NOT pick up on or respond to brain waves, so if you just want it as a novelty item then go for it.

You're right,  NeuroSky would like you to believe that it's your Theta waves that are controlling the MindFlex gym.  And although it might be possible to pick up Theta waves using a different headset (which needs at least three contacts and normally 19!) it is possible this is using skin resistance as a variable which changes with stress levels - but it is also possible as Strauber states in the Speigel article that this is simply the "Illusion of Control"
Despite that at least two other games houses are working on similar controllers including the Australian Emotiv team who are working with Demiurge  on a similar project for a 3D game based on the Unreal Engine.Studios.  (Emotiv's previous work includes production of medical brainwave monitoring kit!).
Bio-feedback in games controllers is nothing new but it is likely we will see an attempt at least in getting players to buy into this "technology".
