unable to create a new Google account

I have been trying to create a new Google account for the past day withou luck. I searched the web for a possible solution and did not find any. No sign of available Google support either. Here is the problem:
- when creating a new account, the page asks me to enter my "current email address". I don't understand what I am expected to enter here. I should be asked to enter my new email!!
- II enter an email such as my.new.user.name@gmail.com and a password, location is Israel, I enter the word verifcation, hit the Create My Account button and I am always getting "The email you provided does not exist". Of course it doesn't - I am trying to create a new one!!!

I have this in Google Chrome and in Explorer - same problem.
I have tried cleaning my cookies and cache in Chrome - no luck.
Any ideas? is there a workaround?

No, I managed to bypass the problem by creating the account from a computer I have not used for a long time. The create account URL looked like this:
https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=mail&continue=http://mail.google.com/mail/e-11-
11a540d1a0f32528b9799a147121c288-10de8459929d9f4fa6303a8042a15a0422cd07a8&type=2

The continue parameter uses http://mail.google.com and the user was created successfully!

In the current email address box, enter the email address that you currently use. If you don't use one, then leave it blank.

After you hit create my account, wait a few minutes and then try to log in.

When I enter the existing email address, I get a message saying that the account already exists.
If I leave the field blank, I get a message saying that this is a required field.

Do you have the page open?

Not sure I understand what you mean. I have gmail open in Chrome with my existing account so that I could check if I got replies for my question. I need to open an additional browser window so that I could get out of the accound and create a new one.

Ok. I have the Google Accounts signup open and it doesn't tell me to enter an existing email address.

It does, though, ask for a recovery email address in the middle of the page, which is not required.

On the third line from the top, after entering your name, enter in the name of the account you want to create.

I assume the problem has to do with the local Google server, and maybe also with the localization of the page since it is in Hebrew. The URL I see on the top when I am creating a new account is:
https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?continue=http://www.google.co.il/ig%3Fhl%3Diw&cd=IL&followup=http://www.google.co.il/ig%3Fhl%3Diw&hl=iw&service=ig<mpl=default

Note the "continue=http://www.google.co.il/..." parameter. What URL are you getting?
I also tried the English verion starting at http://www.google.co.il/ig
When I try to create a new account I am redirected to https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?continue=http://www.google.co.il/ig&cd=IL&followup=http://www.google.co.il/ig&hl=en&service=ig<mpl=default
and there I am getting the "Your current email address" required parameter.

Ok, I got it translated via Google Translate.

Google will use your existing email address to log you into a Google account. Since I'm assuming you want to create an account like "username@gmail.com", then try signing up at "http://www.gmail.com/".

Oops. Sorry about that....

Did you try signing up at http://www.gmail.com/ ?

Just for future reference, the easist way of working with multiple Gmail accounts at the same time is using multiple browsers e.g. Chrome+Firefox
