I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

hi! there , please make sure you connect phone line securely to the correct port and switch on the fax/printer again ... the HP website also recommends a possible firmware update, that's the software present/embedded in the Fax/Printer itself. I am supplying here the HP Color LaserJet CM2320nf  MFP troubleshooting HP Web link. Please follow the instructions there and get back if you need further assistance.

is there any risk that it could damage?

Sujith_NairCommented:
yes there exists a slight risk of damaging the machine , thought it will only be a software damage not a physical one that too if you end up updating firmware incorrectly! (its not a serious damage!)
if you are scared to proceed performing this i would recommend you to contact HP online support or local service locator!

if you are brave and patient enough you could fix the printer by following the above links else i advice you to call the support, if its under warrant you wont be charged a penny!
