Exchange is Blocking email with attachments at random.

I am running Exchange 07 and 03.They are on 2 separate domains on the same lan. There is a connector setup so that each domain can receive emails from the other. My problem here lately is that users on the 07 exchange are complaining that they are not getting emails from clients if the client is sending an attachment. There is no size issue. They will however receive email from the same client if there is no attachment.

I have A sophos email appliance that's supposed to filter spam.I seem to keep getting all of the Viagra type emails and not receiving the legit ones though.

I have seen these types of appliances strip encrypted or password protected attachments or basically any type of unscannable attachments.    What is your inbound attachement policy set to?

Hey, one quick thing,Is there a feature in this appliance where you can log into the console and allow senders that it normally has been blocking or "finds offensive" for some unbelievable reason?

Yes if you have the ability to whitelist users that should work also.     My guess is your app is stripping attachements it cant scan.   How setting this to off for:   Suspect Attachements, but this does not sound like a good thing since there are a few email born malware out there...

Ha yes that is typical and it is probably some silly joke email...well i would say click the button for Suspect Attachemets so it says Turn On...have them send the same email and see if this resolves your issue so you know if the problem lies with this setting.   Or whitelist the email address they are sending from.
