toshiba tecra a5 s116 hdd recovery partition

I have a tecra a5 s116 laptop.  its shows a recovery partition.  how do i boot to this.  no info in manuals.

if it has a recovery partition you would have to hold F8 on boot to get to the recovery process. if that doesnt work the partition way be damaged or that laptop doesnt have one. if that is the cas you will have to order a set of recovery media from toshiba at 1(800)457-7777.

i need it because the dvd cdr/w does not work.  it recognizes it in device manager, but could not find the right driver on toshiba.  I have back disk, but you need the drive.  i did the f8.  it shows the hddbackup partion, but i do not know what sequence to get into it.

You were close.  It started by holding the "0" key down instead of f8.
