"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would say just read the spring documentation, it's your best resource.  You can code anyway that you like but stick to the way the examples are given in the documentation because that will be the most widely accepted way to accomplish anything in spring.

Besides all rules are made to be broken eventually anyway.  There aren't any guidelines anyway just suggestions.

Here is the newest documentation I don't know what version you are using.
