Seems like you have two instances

* Default Instance - Express edition
* Named Instance - Evaluation(?) edition

And to confirm the edition of your named instance, just run this query:

select serverproperty('edition')

Hope you missed selecting some of the required features during your installation and make sure you check out All tools in Features Selection page under Shared Features section as given in the installation guide below:

http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2008/06/12/sql-server-2008-step-by-step-installation-guide-with-images/

In order to get SQL Server Profiler, just do the installation again now choosing the required options.

And is there by any chance you have SQL Server 2005 SSMS in that machine which wont show Profiler tool for SQL Server 2008 instances.

It sounds like you are using SQL Server Express which does not support SQL Server Profiler or Database Engine Tuning Advisor

>>I installed a 180 day trial version (NOT Sure.. how to find out) enterprise edition<<
You can find out by executing from the SSMS query window:
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ProductVersion'),
        SERVERPROPERTY('ProductLevel'),
        SERVERPROPERTY('Edition')

Also you may want to clarify what is installed on your workstation (not necessarily the same as on the server), by going to the About window and clicking on Copy Info, so that you can post here.

What it cannot be is SS 2208, no such animal, not to mention a little far in the future :)

So installation of  SSMS and SS are two different things ?

and also i copied the info and there you know what i found??

It said "SSMS Basic(Expires in 141 days)"

anyways here is the info u asked

Before you installed Evaluation edition, express edition was present in that machine. and as per the snapshot Express was installed on 3rd March and then you have installed Evaluation edition on 11th March.

>> I pasted some tools available in my machine wud this be of any help to you ?

Where the instance name is Express, it relates to Express installation and where it is SVED, its your Evaluation edition installation.
And those with nothing listed for Instance are shared components..

>> So installation of  SSMS and SS are two different things ?

SSMS installation refers to installation of Client tools alone
And SS installation refers to installing Database Engine alone.
